The Attendant, 27a Foley Street

I can confirm that lunch in a converted public toilet is a thing of joy.

The Attendant, housed in a beautiful Victorian-era public toilet on Foley Street, is one of the best lunch destinations in Fitzrovia.

I had a delicious grilled vegetable and goats cheese sandwich on toasted foccaccia studded with rosemary. Also on offer were croissants stuffed with locally-sourced turkey, a bacon, chicken, avocado and oozy-egg bagel and a pulled pork bun with mac and cheese. Coffee by Caravan and an assortment of sweet treats on the counter top off their breakfast and lunch offerings. My sandwich was £4.50 - a bit on the pricey side but it was a perfect culinary combination with the deep, fragrant flavours of rosemary complementing the sweet peppers, oily aubergene and tangy goats cheese beautifully.

Opening hours are currently 07:30-17:30 Monday to Friday.

Their website is pretty minimal at present but information will be added soon: http://www.the-attendant.com/
